GROAN (again): More Technical issues with our Mailer

No sooner had the digital ‘ink’ dried on our boast of the sending of the mailer to almost 15 000 people (!), than did we discover that something appears to have gone a touch wrong.

Normally, most people on our subscriber list would have been quite happy to see this appear in their INBOX as the first page of our monhtly Mailer.

Not a bad service overall, until you receive it 9 times...

Anyway, embarrassed as we are, all we can really do is offer a very sheepish and sincere apology to our faithful subscribers, some of whom have probably suffered through far worse with us in the past.

That said, although experiences do appear to be mixed with some subscribers receiving the mailer 3 times and others even getting it 9 times, we hope you guys will all bear with us as we try to fix whatever gremlin crept in to cause this in the first place.

Modern technology eh? Bugger…

If for some reason you still haven’t received it yet, click HERE to download it directly.

Sorry guys!

Woolies Chocolate Cake Baking Kits; literally child’s play

Part of any Sensible-Suburban-Survival Kit...

Have any of you discovered these Woolworths Baking Kits yet? No?

Well look, to be 100% honest we may have just a teeny, weeny bit of bias involved here here but we still felt that Joseph’s first-ever experiment with baking on his own were worth sharing. This would be to (a) prove the point that, almost literally, anyone can make the most amazing chocolate cake with these kits. Even an almost-three year old who hasn’t quite cracked all the ABC’s yet.

And (b), as parents, this stuff also made us grin from ear to ear.

Read on to see how he got on…

NoMU has been nominated for the 567CapeTalk Small Business Awards

Such a fun way to end the day:

Stolen shamelessly from the 567CapeTalk main-site. Sorry guys (sheepishly)

We just got off the line with one of our favourite radio talk show hosts, John Maytham. This have happened after we were suddenly nominated for the Softline PASTEL 567CapeTalk Small Business Awards.

In fact, thanks to Seth from 2Oceans Vibe, we have even managed to get the interview recorded too. Let’s hope this link works!

http://bit.ly/b2jY6S

Turns out that we  were nominated for this because of our service quality but it doesn’t end there. Once on-air, we also managed to even squeeze in a bit of a punt for our mailer, the REFILL Packs and old faithful, the story about NoMU’s name. As Paul said, ‘our methods are not exactly scientific but at least they are authentic.’

If you feel like we do deserve the nomination and would like to vote for us to win, please go to the SBA section of the 567 site (click HERE) and make a comment under our Nomination or even easier, you can also just SMS ‘I LOVE NoMU’ to 31567!

So a HUGE Thank You to 567Cape Talk and especially to John Maytham who we have also just learned is also a big fan of our FONDS. Thank you muchly John!

More Pirate noises may be in order.

Innovation Summit: Paul attempts a career in stand-up comedy

So, here is Paul, entertaining an audience literally far more qualified than he is at last week’s INNOVATION SUMMIT, held at the Innovation Hub in Pretoria on the 26th of August. Seriously, it’s a bit of joke: the guy barely even has a degree:

So a rabbi, a priest and a hot dog vendor are watching Mad Men and...

The idea was to share our story as ‘Innovators’ or perhaps to explain what role innovation has had to do with the way in which we have grown NoMU as a business and as a brand.

All very flattering to be included of course but a touch intimidating if you have to follow Mike Jordaan (CEO FNB South Africa) and Xolani Mtshizana (CEO ‘KEEP DIGGING’ SA). Then again, maybe not. They didn’t have Hot Chocolate to serve out to everyone and we did and we believe in always bringing a gun to a knife fight. No, seriously, we do. It’s good marketing. Tsun Tsu said so…

Assorted Pirate Noises and Cheers as NoMU FONDS rampage into Woolies South Africa

Here is a brief bit of rabble-rousing to celebrate the fact that, even if that functionally illiterate, Mr Potato-Head, Julius Malema plans on nationalising our mines and scrapping the willing-seller/willing buyer practice (which is enshrined in our uniquely progressive consititution by the way – small detail if protecting the constitution doesn’t matter), NoMU can still spread some exciting news anyway, so here it is:

We have heard that this is the week when our NoMU FONDS will appear, in all their flavourful glory, on the shelves of Woolworths SA!  Nationwide, no less.

'You don't have to watch Dynasty, to have an attitude...'

Now, if you would care to join us in getting all excited about this (AND WIN SOMETHING at the same time), then ’read on’ MacDuff:

Guy with a Camera as our September Pin Up: Sneak peek

We don’t want to ruin the fun by telling you all about the UNBELIEVABLE spread of prizes that Andrew Brauteseth, one of Cape Town’s fastest emerging lifestyle photographers, has put together.

Just trust us; usually we describe the prizes on offer as ‘obscene’ but this time it’s even more over the top.

Nevertheless, more to follow on the 1st of the NEW Month.

Until then, here’s a version of what the new In-Store poster (without sponsor logos – thanks Engen) will look like, sort of. Click on it, to make it bigger…

Want to win ridiculous prizes? It couldn't be easier

More to follow but until it does, don’t forget about Richard Hardiman’s poster too! Tons of FREE stuff going for a song. Well, actually TEN songs if you want to win an extra BONUS Prize.

Check out www.richardhardiman.co.za to see and learn more, while the competition is still on!

As usual, and as part of his ongoing portfolio campaign, this image was also shot by Cape Town’s hottest Concept Portrait photographer, Robert Miller. Check our THIS to see a spread of Robert’s other work, including most of our previous images in this campaign!

NoMU’s Private Little Problem Child…

Every family has one (just for a while usually) and NoMU is not exempt.

Meet NoMU STIR; a product we literally can’t live without and also perhaps one of the products that is most true to our gung-ho, product development attitude which has always been based on only producing items that we want for ourselves. Look, it’s not rocket science but at least it’s honest.

This is what our little bad boy looks like:

MULTIPLE Award winner - completely under-appreciated

Now, read on to understand why we still think this little stroke of genius is worthy of all our love…

You still haven’t entered the 2Oceansvibe Radio Poster competition? Why the hell not?

Time is running out for you to get your POSTER-ior (Cough! Oh sorry about that…) along to Club Oranje. This is quite clearly the Engen Garage at the top of Orange Street, obviously.

You would want to do this you see in order to enter this month’s ludicrous giveaway with prizes from Col’Cocchio Pizzeria, Corona Beer, Haviana Slops, Sunglass Hut Vouchers, Assorted Wines from ‘Winemakers Choice’, 2 nights at Aquarius Villas in Bluberg and of course a HUGE NoMU Hamper!

For those of you who have not seen this before, the mechanic is easy:

Get to the food store section (the one that is more consistently busy at any time of the day or night than the average beer stand at any given rock concert) and find this poster:

Check out those sponsored prizes!

Found it yet? Good, now; hold still, smile, snap and send that visual to Richard to enter.

Just remember that stupid outfits, uncomfortable stances and any original artistic interpretation through the medium of dance will ALWAYS  score more points. However IF you also send Richard your Best All-Time 10-Tracks for his playlist on 2Oceans Vibe Radio, you could also win a pair of Haviana Slops and a case of Corona Beer every week during August!

They will be choosing these weekly and giving them out on AIR!

Click HERE to read the first article…

Then read below to get some visual idea of what’s expected!

When weekend Recipe Mailer Getaway destinations come knocking

OK, so today was essentially like watching a group of 8-10 year olds playing rugby; just one big swarming scrum that moves all over the field in a big bait-ball, occassionally (maybe) scoring a try. On the other hand, it did also start off rather well with a meeting with another married, entrepreneurial couple. Here they are, politely letting me take photos before the coffee arrived (please ignore me alsmost falling over in the mirror).

Meet the very impressive Helen and David Untiedt from ‘Perfect Hideaways.’

This is all you can expect from an Iphone in a hurry apparently...

Now, apart from the fact that Helen and David are both instantly likeable and obviously also have insufferably good taste, this morning they came fully armed with quite a clever idea up their sleeves and a very clever concept for Tracy and her Recipe Mailers.

Here’s a clue of what they used to nab Tracy’s attention. Cunning guys…

Well, um, sort of, err, Tracy's dream beachhouse maybe?

And here’s their website too (http://www.perfecthideaways.co.za) but read on for more…
